BIO

I was born and raised in San Jose, California, and I graduated from San José State University (summa cum laude) in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and a minor in Radio-Television-Film. These fields of study have shown me that there are infinite ways of conveying messages and sharing meaningful narratives. I am always looking to share new stories and learn new ways of doing so, and I hope that shows in my work.

Since childhood, I have had a deep love for literature, film and music. I play clarinet, saxophone, ukulele and guitar, and from elementary school through college, I have been involved in my school music ensembles. For the last few years, I have been singing in a 12-member ska band called Voluntary Hazing. I apply my public relations skills there, too, as I organize shows with local venues, manage social media, handle legalities of music distribution and create marketing materials for the band. (Click HERE to view some of the artwork I designed for the band.)

My love for music and communication also inspired me to pursue radio. I was an Alpha Media radio promotions assistant from April 2018 to June 2020, and I am thankful for all the opportunities it gave me to more fully experience and be involved in the Bay Area community.

I studied political science abroad in Sweden in June 2019. I specifically researched the policies and accessibility of public music education in Sweden. Between these experiences and everything I learned in my DBH Communications internship working on "[dreamer] project: an Undocuplay," I have developed a greater interest in politics, government and community events.

In May 2020, I was awarded the San Francisco Public Relations Round Table Scholarship, and I was selected as one of four 2020 Kappa Tau Alpha Scholars in the SJSU School of Journalism and Mass Communications. I have been an SJSU President's Scholar (4.0 GPA) in 2018, 2019 and 2020. I was the recipient of the Louis A. Duino Scholarship Endowment for SJSU mass communications students in December 2019. I completed the SJSU Humanities Honors Program in May 2018, and I was the recipient of the O.C. Williams Scholarship for Humanities Honors students in May 2017.
